I would like to talk to you about Dishonored, a very good video game created by the french studio Arkane and published by Bethesdha (Elders Scroll : Skyrim / Rage). The game will release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 october 12th, and already win prices at the E3 and Gamescom in Cologne.
Dishonored is a complex story-driven action adventure that mixes elements of first person shooters, stealth games, and role-playing in a way that hasn’t really been seen since the glory days of System Shock, Deus Ex on PC. You play Corvo who’s took the blame for a crime he didn’t commit. You’ll be helped by a mysterious guy to take your revenge against evil, using your talents of fighting, and using mysterious powers. The originality of the game is its dark universe combines many artistic and historical references conducive to immerse the player in a highly dense and singular. Inspired by the Victorian London, the plot is enriched by fantastic elements and retro futuristic and events such as the authoritarian government that locks the city and a plague epidemic macabre that eats people.
Artistically, the graphics team was inspired by the paintings of the great masters of the 19th and rather than making textures from photo, favored an approach particularly demanding as illustrative. Characters and set pieces are designed in terms of shape so that each has its own personality, the textures are largely painted by digital artists who had trained as a classical art (many of which come from Émile Cohl). The result is away from big budget games with their usual procedural textures and characters to offer photo-realistic environments conceived as paintings and characters inspired by English aristocrats or people with faces marked by the work force and frequenting pubs most sordid.
The gameplay takes advantage of the experience of Arkane designers who are always distinguished by the originality and boldness of choices in terms of mechanism of gameplay
During the adventure the player will unlock weapons and powers that will combine leisure to advance his own way in the various missions assigned. It will be possible to slow down time to invoke swarms of rats devour enemies, to micro teleport or take possession temporarily of a target (human / rat / fish).
Among the many active and passive powers available, only a portion will be unlocked, so the player can play with a combination and again with another to change his game experience Everything is done for the player appropriates the universe and finds its own way to tackle missions between violence or murder precise and patient. Kill plenty alter the course of history, be parsimonious in his murders will also take another course of the plot. The music of the game was composed by Daniel Licht, the author of the soundtrack of Dexter. This is the teaser, realised by Blur :
